Acer AT2026 Review

Acer has released a number of TVs in recent times, none of which set the world on fire, however the Acer AT2026 will hope to do so.

The set itself is certainly not bad looking, and may even be seen as an attractive tv – something in the vein of the companies aesthetically pleasing laptops. Acer has given the set a 720p HD ready LED screen, which is average at best, though works with BluRay and other high quality sources. The TV has a 60Hz refresh rate and so is quite average in its abilities.

Acer AT2026 Form

The build and remote of the TV are lacking, which is a common Acer problem . Acer have a tendency to make attractive TVs, though they do tend to creak and bend when placed under stress.

Acer AT2026 Video Playback

The TV comes in 20in size and is 168mm deep, meaning it is not the slimmest TV in current living memory and quite deep. It however is definitely small enough to hang up and the TV has a number of side connections meaning it is easily accessible. The set has 2 HDMI ports, a Scart, VGA, composite and a number of others as well as a USB. Fortunately Acer has given the TV the ability to decode and allow the watching of Div X and other sources of downloaded video.

Samsung has given the TV a freeview set, making it an ideal replacement for people who are looking at replacing old CRT sets, or are converting before the analogue signal is shut off.

Acer AT2026 EPG

The EPG is shared with a number of Acer sets and is , though this is not a good thing as it is quite poor and really doesn’t look pretty, or acts functionally when compared to other TVs.

Images are displayed in SD and are quite good in quality, with a decent contract rate, some light leakage around edges, but it’s overall okay. The TV is also quite fluid in its offering and we would advise its use for more menial pursuits such as in a kitchen or bedroom.

Acer AT2026 Gaming

The TV has a quite quick response time of 5m/s and just like other Acer sets, makes a great monitor for a computer and really eliminates lag for computer games. The 2x5w speakers are nothing impressive, though are ideal for most activities with the set, as its size will mean it is not a central TV for a large room.

The Acer AT2026 is a perfectly okay TV, with some nice features, though it lacks in some ways and is perfect for small usage, or computer usage, though not ideal for anything more.

Get the Acer AT2026 on Amazon.co.uk

LG 42LV550T

The LG LV550T is as smart looking outside as it is on the inside. The LG is a slim, LED full 1080p enabled set that offers a smattering of trickery to ensure you’ve more to entertain you than the decent screen. The set is a 42inch non 3D TV with LG’s latest technology – MCI 500hz, a feature to add clarity to what is displayed on screen.

Aesthetically the TV is an attractive one, with a quite slim bezel and tidy fascia, it weighs in at a slight 13.2KG – not much for a TV of this size and so it’s ideal for wall hanging. The remote control is also a slim and well laid out one and is a pleasure to use.

Connectivity wise, the LG 42LV550T is well lined and comes with 4HDMI connectors, a USB, Composite port a LAN port and Scart port. The USB ports mean the ability to play a wide variety of file types, including Div X and MKV files, you can also connect a dongle to the TV for ensure it is Wi-Fi ready via your home Internet connection.

The LAN connection on the LG 42LV550T also offers a number of excellent capabilities to the set.The TV can stream media from PCs and laptops via this connection, connect to the Internet to allow the LG 42LV550T TVs excellent SMART services to be available and also to aid the TVs Freeview HD tuner. The television is exceptionally energy efficient, boasting up to 40% in savings in power use when compared with a traditional LCD TV

LG 42LV550T SMART TV

The SMART TV abilities are excellent and LG impress with an excellently laid out set of features including a wide variety of options and services including iPlayer, VTuner and YouTube among the many other less auspicious apps such as baseball and the iConcert ones. The LG 42LV550T bears similarity to Samsung’s set up as regards menu systems – in no way a bad thing and the Internet experience is fast and well thought out .

LG 42LV550T Picture Quality

The TV itself offers a huge variety of personalisation choices as regards picture set up. There are calibration options for everything from contrast and brightness to MPEG noise reduction tools, gamma presets and processor options – though messing with these latter options can make the picture look unnatural and very processed. The Picture Wizard option is great for novices and the little in-screen boxes explain what each setting does in lay mans language – this is an excellent and well thought out feature. We’ve mentioned the MCI 500hz option the TV has.

LG 42LV550T Refresh Rate

Unfortunately the TV does not have a refresh rate of 500hz, but the usual 100hz. The TVs processor, scanning and backlight options create the other 400hz and this is LGs alternative to Samsungs Clear Motion Rate option. The LV550T creates excellent pictures for bright scenes, however is not so wonderful when it comes to dark pictures and black levels lack even when set to their darkest. Normal dark scenes look poor and black is not deep enough, however with processing increased, scenes looks muddled and shadow detail is lost – it’s a bit of a no win situation.

TruMotion

The TruMotion option does completely remove motion blur and the LG 42LV550T is very sharp and judder free in most areas that require it to run smoothly. The TV is even good for gaming – not a LG strong point and judder and lag are only slight. The HD Freeview is also excellent, as is the TVs up-scaling abilities for standard definition TV, thanks to the array of features and the more than ample processing power of the TV.

Sound quality is okay, the LG 42LV550T does suffer in the same way as most slim TVs though and bass is virtually non-existent.

Overall, we really liked the LG. It is about on the button as far as price goes, offers a smorgasbord like amount of extras and offers a brilliant picture in bright circumstances, if a little lacklustre in dark scenes.

LG LV550T Review

Consumers who are looking for a decent set for a reasonable price will be happy to see the LG LV550T come their way. The TV comes in a range of sizes and is a full 1080p LED TV that is ideal for most homes.

The LG LV550T creates a good first impression and is a good looking TV with a relatively slim bezel and doesn’t have much width making it perfect for hanging up on walls. This thinness is aided by the LED technology apparent in the set and also creates a better picture than older LEC technology.

LG LV550T 500Hz TV?

LG has included a number of features in the LG LV550T that will excite most consumers, especially at the price range the TV is currently on offer for. The TV sets out to simulate an amazing 500Hz in picture refreshing ability – meaning it will manage to refresh at 5 times the rate of many other sets. This is not purely through, though the TV is remarkably smooth during busy pictures.

LG LV550T Connectivity

The set is also a well connected one and offers exactly what you would expect a set of its price to with 4x HDMI ports, VGA, composite, Scart and a USB connection for picture, music and video file playback in most guises available.

This is all done easily and LG deserve to be commended for the layout of the onscreen literature available in both the EPG and the Picture Wizard options that aid the TVs setup through a number of little dialogue boxes on screen helping users choose which settings they want to change to create the optimum picture.

LG LV550T Internet

The TV also comes with Internet and Smart capabilities and so is excellent for streaming channels and has a number of preloaded apps, as well as being capable of downloading many more as well as allowing users to browse the Internet and interact with Social Media when using the TV.

TruMotion is part of the sets huge refresh rate technology and the technology does offer a difference to the set. This creates smoother and more fluid TV and doesn’t make the picture look too processed. The TV is also good at up scaling standard definition and makes normal TV look fluid and gets rid of noise and jagged edges. Dark images do lack a little, but the bright ones and the picture vibrancy do make up for that.

Sound quality on the set does leave a lot to be desired, however overall the TV is a nice one and good value for its current Amazon retail price.

Get the LG LV550T on Amazon in a range of sizes.

There was once a time when a small TV was a 14inch CRT portable set, however nowadays 19inches seems as small as it gets. LG’s 19LV250U 19” LED backlight TV is the South Korean company’s attempt at creating an affordable but still good TV with a good picture and enough features to ensure the TV keeps everyone happy.

LG 19LV250U Aesthetics

The LG 19LV250U is a neat looking TV with a tidy square angled bezel, with an attractive quite minimalist stand. The set itself is 145mm thick, making it no way anything to shout about width wise, though it is still easily mountable.

One of the little LG’s strongest features is the TVs low power consumption figures, with the onus on green TV meaning the LG 19LV250U is around 60 per cent more energy efficient than others in its class.

LG 19LV250U Connectivity

The LG is quite well connected, though nothing above the usual Samsung’s or Panasonics of this size. LG have given the LG 19LV250U 2x HDMI ports along with a composite, a Scart, VGA and a number of other connection options. The TV also offers USB playback from a drive and MKV and Div X files are available on the TV.

LG 19LV250U Freeview

LG have included Freeview on the LG 19LV250U, making it ideal for compact areas as you don’t need a separate box to view your channels. The set comes with a quite tidy electronic TV planner, that we couldn’t fault for the price and it offers the usual array of features such as reminders and notifications.

LG 19LV250U Picture Quality

LG have also given the LG 19LV250U their Picture Wizard technology. This allows users to choose a setting on the TV and have it explained to them in a little caption box – ideal for those who don’t know their contrast from their volume settings. Utilising these settings ensures the TV is set for any room.

The HD picture of the LG 19LV250U, though not full 1080p, quite good and we found the clarity when we connected a player. The TV also deals quite well with standard definition, though in both cases we could see motion blur as a problem and we wouldn’t consider it the best in its class, though it has an impressive 100 Hz refresh rate. Black levels were also quite good for the TVs price and the set offers decent shadow detail.

The LG 19LV250U is a nice set for the price and does offer a lot of bang for its buck. We’d certainly consider it ideal as a second set or for a kitchen. The TV’s an average looking one, with a good refresh rate and some nice features, though is not as good as some of the Samsungs in a similar price bracket.

Get this HDTV on Amazon.co.uk

LG 47LE5300 Review

The LG 47LE5300 is one of LG’s premium TVs and an impressively slim set considering its large size. LG have whittled this TV down to under 30mm wide through use of Edgelight LED, which also makes the image that bit sharper.

Like most LGs the LG 47LE5300 is an extremely attractive TV set and far surpasses much done by other manufacturers in the looks department. The TV has an attractively slim bezel and is a fine example of minimalist style with its single leg and attractive edging.

LG 47LE5300 Conectivity

LG have included all of the connectivity options you would expect from a TV in this range and more. The set comes with a 4HDMI ports for making as much use as you can from the 1080p ratio, as well as USB for your photos and downloaded films and VGA, Scart and composite connection points for whatever else you would wish to connect to the set.

LG 47LE5300 Intelligent Sensor

LG have also included the second generation of its Intelligent Sensor technology on the TV. This sensor will detect the light availability in the room and then alters the settings of the TV to ensure they are optimised for the surroundings. It works extremely well and we must say we were very impressed.

LG 47LE5300 Picture

LG have also included a smattering of picture set up options if you wish to go about doing this yourself and include the Picture Wizard set up tool to aid your choices of contrast over the vast setting arena the TV offers. LG also include Freeview with a very good programme set up to ensure you never miss a programme again.

We were disappointed with the lack of either 3D or SMART functions on the set. For the price of the LG 47LE5300 either or both would have been nice and the lack of these features is a little disappointing considering many sub £500 TV’s have similar features.

TruMotion

The LG 47LE5300 does try and make up for this with the picture quality it offers. LG have included the TruMotion 100Hz technology with the set, this allows the TV to display extremely smooth pictures at a high refresh rate and so is excellent for fast paced scenes and sports.

HD Sources

The full 1080p display is excellent and the array of connectivity from HD sources will please many. We found the LG 47LE5300 to offer a clear and sharp image. We found the set to offer very good clarity from HD and BluRay sources and also to have excellent up scaling abilities for standard definition sources.

Colours and Black Levels

The set has a wide array of colours and manages to create sharp whites and believable blacks – unlike some other LGs. The LG 47LE5300 also manages to create realistic and non-muddled shadow detail – again not a common LG trait. This all goes so far as to ensure the set is a great primary set for watching films and other images on.

We found game lag to be pretty okay also, the set is well capable of churning out the fast needed processing that a set needs to play video games and would say it is quite good.

Overall the LG 47LE5300 is a very capable set, with some excellent abilities to produce HD and SD pictures. It however is both Internet and 3D free which does make it feel a little lacking. Aside from this it is a very nice TV for those who enjoy long nights in.

Get this set on Amazon.co.uk

Panasonic’s IPS Alpha panel, widely regarded for its wide viewing angle as well as its fantastic ability to transmit light, is now better advanced with an energy-saving, ultra-bright LED backlight. Images no longer fade when you are viewing them from an angle, and the uniformly high-speed response, distributed abroad the full range, provides you with the crisp images you want and minimal afterglow. The IPS Alpha LED LCD displays excellent contrast and is a contributing factor in the display’s fashionably slim design.

LED screens create a high rate of brightness while consuming relatively small amounts of power. Panasonic’s highly efficient, best generation of LCD technology was brought forth with the use of LED technology for the backlight and then it was combined with the IPS Alpha panel, which is highly efficient at transmitting light. By maximizing the advantages that are inherent to this device, Panasonic has been able to optimize black reproduction while using far less energy.

It’s easy for you to view full-HD images by using the built in SD card slot. You can watch your photos and home videos, then show them off to your loved ones when you are ready. You just slide an SD Memory Card into the TV to view your photos and full-HD videos on the big screen.

Viera Link makes it easy to interlink your devices for seamless operation, with the simple use of an HDMI cable.

In Game Mode, the rapid image response gives you the ultimate home gaming experience. Your game will be displayed the way it was meant to be – lifelike! The action will feel so real you will forget you are sitting on your couch. This display produces the dark images in video games more clearly. Your video game has never looked or felt better!

This TV by Panasonic also has a DVB-T2 tuner that has Freeview HD – providing you with free HD channels, including sports, your favorite soap operas, and documentaries in full HD – all without the hassle of subscription fees and contracts.

LG 37LV355T Review

LG have a history of making highly innovative, yet very attractive Television sets. The LG 37LV355T seems like no exception on the outset to this rule and is a very good looking TV, with a lot going for it.

The LG 37LV355T is a fully 1080p compatible HD TV with LED lifting to ensure it not only offers amazing clarity of picture, but also is a slim TV. The set is a quite slim 35mm thick – quite nice for a TV of its price and with its features. LG have also included the nice minimalist one legged stand with the set and we can’t fault it on its quite attractive looks.

LG 37LV355T Connectivity

As regards HDMI ports and connectivity, well the LG has three of the former, alongside a Scart, a USB and a VGA connection, as well as traditional composite connections also. LG have also included a Freeview HD tuner with the LG 37LV355T to ensure you get the best possible picture from your set – this is a plus as TVs in this price range can be hit o miss as regards High Definition Freeview and it really makes the difference, especially with a set like this.

LG 37LV355T USB Playback

The LG is also compatible with USB sticks and plays MP3, photos and most importantly of all plays back DivX movies among a range of other file types used for showing video on the TV. Fortunately the electronic guides are up to the usual LG standard and we can’t discount the layout or intuitive set of the guide which makes watching movies very easy.

LG have also included the second version of its Picture Wizard technology with the set. This allows users to see the adjustments they make and have it explained in layman’s terms – making it easy to understand the effect a change in setting to picture will make. This is an ingenious and also a very simple tool, especially with the increasingly complex nature of TV sets.

LG 37LV355T Intelligent Light Sensor

If you’re too lazy to read and fiddle around with the settings the LG 37LV355T has an Intelligent Light Sensor – this automatically optimises the picture for the setting you are watching the LG 37LV355T in and makes changes to brightness, contrast etc to ensure the best picture.

LG 37LV355T Picture Quality

So, how does the best picture look then? Well, very well. LG have created a very nice screen here on the LG 37LV355T. The 1080p LED display of the device is excellent and offers a great choice of TV for bright conditions. Unfortunately darker conditions are subject to some loss in shadow detail and artificial looking blacks. The selection of colours available on-screen is very good and the processing power of the set and its 100Hz refresh means that judder is quite limited and the set runs smoothly in all but the most active settings.

Gaming wise the TV is quite okay, it does lag a little – then again most TVs in this price range do. The LG 37LV355T’s speakers were quite tinny and there was little bass, so a good sound system does make all the difference when watching movies.

Overall though the LG is a good set in itself and a great set for its price, offering a good picture and some nice features.

37 Inch LG LV550T Review

The LG LV550T series offers consumers a little something extra and this 37inch model is an ideal size for most homes and domestic settings. The set is a full1080p LED TV, though doesn’t offer either 3D however for its price it is an excellent set.

The TV is a good looking one and has a nice slim frame or bezel and succumbs to LGs belief in good looking TVs with solid and top of the range components inside. The slimness of the LG LV550T due to the LED Technology means that the TV is a great one for wall hanging and is a pleasure to watch.

MCI 500Hz on the LG LV550T

The LG LV550T comes with LG’s latest piece of innovation – MCI 500 Hz – a feature to stimulate a 500Hz refresh rate, though the set is only 100Hz naturally. The set also has a number of other little pieces of trickery to ensure it is a competitive and ample contender to most TVs out at the moment.

LG have ensured that the LG LV550T is a well connected set and it comes with the ability to stream media from connections as well as this it can be connected to the Internet for full Smart capabilities. The LG L550T also has a Freeview HD Tuner – allowing full high definition TV to be shown from channels available.

LG LV550T Smart TV

The Smart TV capabilities impress and the layout is definitely one of the best available. LG make sure that a wide range of options are available for the TV and there are a number of features and options to play streamed channels and other services such as iPlayer and YouTube among less well known options.

Like many top end LGs thisTV comes with a wide selection of choices to customise the channels you are watching and the TV offers all sorts of features to ensure you are looking at the best quality of picture for the appropriate programme. The LG LV550T even has a Picture Wizard, which explains what the wide array of options to customise the set actually do.

LG LV550T Picture

The TV’s LED capabilities and other processing features such as the TruMotion technology mean the set creates bright and vibrant pictures in good light. Bad light does however mean the picture can be dull and this takes a lot of setting up to even partially eradicate.

TruMotion does artificially increase the refresh rate and motion blur is not a common thing on the set and gaming is recommended as there is little lag. The up scaling abilities are also impressive and the TV has excellent powers to do so, removing a lot of noise from Standard definition programmes

Overall

Like the bigger 42inch version of the set, the sound quality leaves a little to be desired, with bass the most obvious shortfall. However we must agree we liked the TV and its picture was very good in brightness, though poor in darker scenes, but it is certainly a good TV for its current price.

LG 32LV250U Review

LG have released a number of new innovative and expensive TVs recently, some even with full screen touch capabilities over a 52inch area – amazing. However, for most of us a good affordable set is ideal. So, does the LG LV250U fit the mark? Well we are having a look to find out.

This LG is a 32inch TV with a budget price and a LED screen with enough features to keep most of us happy. The LG 32LV250U itself is a neat looking TV and comes with a fairly averagely sized frame and is a 145mm thick TV, meaning it can still be hung on a wall, but is a tad chunky.

LG 32LV250U Spec

LG has looked at the rising price of the LG 32LV250U and used it as a factor when making this TV which is one of the lowest consuming of its field and in its price range on the market. The LG is up to 60 percent less power hungry than most

LG have also included Freeview in the set, meaning it takes up only one plug and also takes up only the space where the TV is. This is nothing exciting, though is decent in a set like this with a basic LED screen, though a HD Freeview box is always nice.

LG 32LV250U Connections

The TV does however have all the connections you would expect for all your other things such as games consoles and other bits and bobs. It also comes with a VGA connection, 2Xhdmi PORTS, A Scart port and a number of other connection options.

LG have also utilised the need for USB ports here and the T can be used to playback files in video, picture or music format – not that you would want the latter with the poor sounding speakers. The TV also comes with a good Electronic Planning Guide and is as tidy as and well organised as anything in its price range.

LG 32LV250U Picture Wizard

LG haven’t scrimped on their Picture Wizard technology and the TV has benefitted. The tech explains what each sort of setting does and how it applies to your TV. This is excellent for those not so familiar with the vast array of settings modern TVs have and makes the difference.

The picture itself is very good with a little work and we found the set to deal well with both standard and HD. Motion blur was a problem to an extent, partially because a TV like this doesn’t have the processing power more expensive models do, however colours looked good and the refresh rate of 100 Hz dealt with most issues at hand.

We must say we liked the LG and it offers a lot of bang for its buck and is ideal as a budget set and more especially as a TV set for a second room, viewing angles are good and the technology is decent and at a great price.
