Hannspree SV32LMNB Review

Hannspree are gathering pace since their return to the UK market and the release of the new Edge Light 32 inch SV32LMNB. Using MVA technology is an attempt to bring it up a level.

Hannspree SV32LMNB Technology

On the outset the TV has the technology to compete with the likes of LG and Samsung, with the latest LED lighting, energy efficiency ratings to beat the band and all sorts of visual trickery, including a 100Hz refresh rate. Hanspree has also included a number of their own technologies, namely the X-Celebrate and X-Contrast technologies. These technologies give the device  high contrast ration and reduce lag, which along with the 100Hz technology can be said to improve the gaming abilities of the device.

Hannspree SV32LMNB Aesthetics

The set itself is a good looking one and is typical of the Hanspree models currently on the market. The TV has a transparent bezel and a beautiful fascia, this two tone design is supported by a good looking stand and the overall appearance of the device is one of the luxury sector. The set is also quite slim and is only 40mm in depth.

The TV is a full 1080p set, though the technology of the TV des lag a tad behind that of the top makers, and though it may look good out of the box the colour of the TV is not in any way accurate or a reproduction of the tones of the DVD or TV programme. Unfortunately the Hanspree falls victim to this and though we tweaked with it we found it hard to represent real colour levels. The TV does produce nice naturally deep blacks, which went someway to impressing us.

Hannspree SV32LMNB Connectivity

The TV comes with all the usual attachments and the Hannspree has HDMI and USB ports as well as two Scarts, a VGA and a number of others The USB offers great file support and supports most formats. The TV also comes with SD Freeview tuner, though we would have preferred HD Freeview, this is a compromise. Audio quality is relatively okay considering the TV is only 40mm deep, though the TV lacks bass and if you add a speaker we found mid range offered problems.

Hannspree SV32LMNB Clouding

The TV also suffers a lot of clouding and also has the unfortunate uneven brightness that is associated with Edge Light sets, which have the LED lights at the edge. Up scaling is also quite average and we didn’t feel the set offered to much above the call of duty in this area either.

Overall the Hannspree offers a decent enough service to the TV world, providing you get a low price on the Hannspree SV32LMNB we wouldn’t fail to recommend it if you were looking for a TV solely for film watch. To an extent the Hanspree is all style and little substance.
