LG 55LW550T Review
The LG LW550T is not LG’s top running 3D TV ,however it does certainly improve on most other sets as a quick look at the back of the box would suggest.
The 55inch display is quite large and will be suitable for the largest living room. It is surrounded by a slim plastic bezel, which isn’t the sturdiest, however is quite attractive. It comes with a nice silver stand that makes it appear like it is floating and also can be easily wall mounted.
LG 55LW550T Connectivity
The set comes with a wide selection of connections, including 4xHDMI, component, composite, Scar and VGTA outputs as well as audio inputs and out puts. The TV also comes with two USBs which are great for playback, but can’t be used for recording – which is a bit of a shame. The set also has an Ethernet port and LG’s included their Smart TV service.
LG 55LW550T SMART
We found the Smart TV service to work very well on the TV and it is a very intuitive format that offers a number of the usual services including Facebook, Twitter YouTube and the like as well as the excellent BBC iPlayer. The sensible layout and the aesthetics look great and were very impressive.
Standard definition looked a little poorly on such a large screen, fortunately HD didn’t suffer such problems and produced very sharp images. BluRay also looked great and the LG’s Tru Motion really smoothed things out. The backlight set also produced incredibly vibrant pictures.
The passive 3D technology, though less expensive than the active option does a great job and though not just as good as the more expensive option, offered great 3D and were also much better for viewing angles than active sets.
The TVs audio was average for a set of this size it lacked bass and really didn’t impress, however it was better than a lot of TVs of similar width – a sound system would be no loss however.
Overall we found the LG LW550T to be quite a nice set to use. It comes with a smattering of options and the 3D is quite good, as is the Internet TV. For its price and for what LG has created it should definitely be recommended.
